Youngers

Youngers:

The teen drama Youngers has been aired on the E4 channel which is owned by the channel 4 institution. This institution is well known for broadcasting situation comedies and cartoon comedies. For example, Family Guy and The big bang theory. These shows are not owned by the channel 4 the big bang theory is currently owned by and produced by the CBS institution. The family guy series is owned by the Fox Corporation. The series ‘Youngers’ is filmed and produced by the channel 4 company. This teen drama is aired every Wednesday at 6pm. The first episode which is the pilot episode had received 450,000 viewers watching the new series being aired. The series is about two boys from south London who want to make it big. One wants to be a rapper the other a music producer. In the first few scenes we see that there is low key lighting present in the scenes, giving it a mysterious feel to the scenes that are being watched. This is because close up’s of the character is being used we do not see him. The lighting that’s been used is the key light in which lights up the characters face however producing shadows behind him. This makes the character look good looking and beautiful so that it may attract the female audience and real them in. the mother in the scene has been shown to be fully lit when she enters the scene, connoting that she is some sort of powerful person in the scene along with a low angle shot showing that she is god like and is in control.

The actors that have been featured in the new series are both black characters and boys, these are the main characters in the teen drama. This creates a stereotype as they are both black and from south London. Black males are known to be stereotypically as violent thugs who rap about guns and knives. In this case it’s different as we see that the character raps about him making it in the rapping world, becoming a star. The mother in the scene is portrayed as a dominant character who has power over the two characters. The mother whilst the two boys recording their music and trying to make it, the mother could be the one who may in future try and prevent that. The setting in where the scenes have taken place is in a small compact room in where the two characters are recording and making the magic. The magic being the music they are working on. This could show that since they are recording in a small bedroom they are small time. They are not big, famous or rich; they make do with what they got and stick with it till they make it. Showing that these characters are determined to succeed.

The props that have been used for the main character is a microphone in front of him. We shear and see him singing showing to us that this is his passion he is a good singer. By also seeing that the character has headphones in we can tell that he loves his music and adores and aspires to be a rapper one day. We also see where the other character has a laptop in front of him along with some Dj equipment. This could connote to us that this character is a good computer technician and is also in to his music and producing it. The camera angles that have been used in the two minute sequence at the start were close ups of the characters mouth whilst he was singing. Possibly trying to show that you should listen to his ‘bars’ his lyrics. We also have close up of his face so that we can see who the character is and with the key light being used we get to see him perfectly creating recognition with the audience to character. This would mean that the audience could identify with him. This also repeats with the second character at the computer desk, having the same affect ion the audience. We also have another shot of where the mother comes in the room furious. The shot that has been shot is a low angle medium shot. This connotes to us that even though these two are independent and trying o make it they still are not fully free to do as they wish as they still get told what to do by their mother. This shows that the mother has power over the both of the two characters.

The main audience for the series are teenagers as it is a teen drama. This is because the scenes and problems that occur on the show are based around young people’s lives. This creates a bond between the target audience and the characters in the series as they may face the same problems. This series could potentially influence the audience as they may be in the same situation, the series backing up the dependency theory. It would relief the audience of any fears that they may have in their personal lives making them happier, showing that the audience are relying on the media by viewing TV drama and seeing how other people approach and deal with them.

The big bang theory:
The big bang theory is an American sitcom. However, it is shown on E4 which is known for its comedy series, one of which is the big bang theory. There are 4 character in the start of the scene in which is introduced by a pan shot of the characters playing on their laptops. From this we can connote that these people may be good friends as they are collaborating which each other socialising. We see that in the episode that the setting is set in a small apartment in which two of them live in. the setting shows to us that these characters are geeks and intellectual people. However, not in any way rich in any form apart from knowledge.
We then see that the characters have been introduced all at once, with the pan shot. This gives the audience a chance to see who may be involved in the episode. The lighting in the scene we see that the whole room and the characters have all been lit up. There are no shadows or dark patches anywhere. We also see that he characters all have some stuff in common which is the game they are playing. The audience that has been attracted is an audience that seek laughter as this is a sitcom. We can tell this from the type of narrative in the scene and the sound in which is non-diegetic which is the laughter from the ‘audience’.

2 Broke girls:
2 broke girls is an American sitcom which produced by the CBS institution. In which specialises in producing sitcoms as they associate in loads of sitcoms. The opening scene in the pilot episode has started of with a medium shot of two characters. One in which is a chef the other a waitress. However, it’s mainly focused on the waitress, so then we automatically known as the audience that she is the main character. The lighting used in this scene is very high key lighting as we see the waitresses face clearly so that we can see her properly. The setting in which is in a cafe/restaurant. This is where the character works. The audience then automatically knows that her wages may not be big and that this is where the sitcom gets its name from.
The camera angles or cinematography that’s been used are a variety of shots for example. Medium shots, long shots and a close up. This shows to us that since it’s the first episode the director wanted us to identify with the scenery and get used to the scene in where most of the episodes take place.

The phone shop:
The phone shop is a series of funny comedy episodes in which is yet another sitcom. The two characters have been shown first which automatically shows the audience that these two are the main characters in the series. The two characters are two males one in which is white the other in which is black. The characters themselves speak in an urban way in which is not expected to them. However they are acting as if they are younger as it is their role.

The setting in which this scene has been set in is a cafĂ© in which they are having their conversation in. the lighting in the scene is high key lighting where the audience can see what exactly is going on where they are and who is around them. They director has also used the 180 degree rule in the scene. The costumes that have been used for the characters are they’ve been dressed up with formal clothing. The shirt, tie, trousers and blazer. This would potentially attract a wide audience but mostly by the younger generation as the language used would be understood by them mostly, this would be teenagers.
Feedback

WWW: fluent, original ideas, especially for question the first two questions.

EBI: Timing needs to improve. Q4 in particular is very limited.

LR: rewrite Q3/Q4 with more detail.

Learner response:

Q3:
During the short film sequence we hear that there is eerie music being played in which is non-diegetic sound. the eerie scary music being played suits the setting in the scene also the lighting in which is low key lighting, this is parallel sound. we also hear bells at the start, the audience would automatically think of a holy place like a church. this could foreshadow that there may be death taking place in the near future, this sound would be diegetic even though it is off screen. We then see that since scary music is being played whilst there are shots of the protagonist on the floor, it would make the audience automatically believe that this is the villain in the narrative. However, as soon as the second character appears in the scene the music changes and becomes more dramatical. This connotes to us as the audience that we were wrong and that there is someone else in which is possibly worse. We could also foreshadow that something bad will happen in which has something to do with this second character. When we see the two characters in the opening scene opposite each other. We hear that the main protagonist that's on the floor sighs, huffs and puffs. this could connote to us that this man is tired and maybe knows his time could potentially be up, meaning he dies tonight. after the other character shoots the character on the floor we hear a creaking noise, then it stops. this could have shown that the man who had been shot was in pain and now no longer is. the noise of the creaking could also empathise how isolated the setting was since it was so silent you could hear every single little thing in the setting, for example the boats creaking.

Q4:
At the start of the opening scene we see that the camera movement is slow, after that we see a man on the floor the protagonist. This creates an affect for the audience as it makes them think that this man is slowly dying, form him not moving much and sweating. We also see the camera movement being slow whilst there is a tracking shot of the other character walking down the stars. This makes the audience possibly fear the mystery character as we see his movements slowly and carefully. Showing to us that we may need to keep a close eye on the character. the 180 degree rule has been used in the opening scene between the two characters. However, we do not see the mystery man's face, producing an enigma code as we do not what he looks like. After the character shoots his gun, we see that we have moved away from the scene to other places of the setting in where.

The Bag - Evaluation.

The Bag - Evaluation

Class Evaluation

WWW- Used the rules well for example Shot/Reverse/Shot of Armond, and Kyle staring at each other. It was suspenseful. The music worked really well, as it was parallel. The narrative was good. The 180˚ rule wasn't broken. The song used was fit for purpose, and attention to detail was on point. Kyle's walk was more natural. It was very original and well planned, the editing program was used to the best ability, well planned, and a variety of shots was used. The editing of the bag was good. The production creates enigma codes.

EBI- The camera was shaky and a few shots blurred. The camera work needs improvement. There was some background noise, and items in the shot did not match the narrative.

Teacher Evaluation:

WWW:
Sound and music were effective, especially with the sound of the clock in sync with the clock in the scene. This made the clock sound originally seem diegetic and in the scene however when the music progressed we realised it was non diegetic. It was also parallel and complimented the scene well.

An enigma code was effectively created as the identities of the characters were unknown. A clear enigma code was also created by the mysterious bag as the audience wonders what's inside.

The low angle shot of Armond in the close up of his face was effective as it made him seem more menacing and mean.

The dialogue and scripting was good as speech was clear and easy to understand.

The repeated shot of the close up on Armond's fingers was effective as it built tension and suspense.

Match on Action was also performed effectively in the scene of the door being opened and then shot from the other side showing the other character entering the door.

Editing was also effective as the fade out of music helped the scenes flow.

EBI:

There was some unintentional camera wobble and blur in scenes which made them less realistic and appealing to the audience.

The location of the scene could also have been better as the mise en scene did not suit the contents of the scene as books and posters were clearly scene, whereas a dealing between two mysterious characters would have suited a more isolated, mysterious location.

There was also some unintentional diegetic sound in the background of the scenes. This took some emphasis away from the music and speech between the characters as background noises distracted the audience.

Self-evaluation:

WWW:
What went well during making the preliminary exercise was that we planned out what we were going to do and where we were going to do it. We decided on the setting and the characters that will take part. This made us very well organised allowing us after shooting the video footage to have a handful of time to do the editing without rushing. In the video sequence we had produced we had some very creative shots. During the first scenes we had a few close up shots of the actor Kyle walking up stairs and, however we have not revealed his identity purposely as this would create an enigma for the audience leaving them curious to find out who the mystery protagonist is. We also had a pan shot of the bag following the direction of the bag. The audience from this would automatically know that this is what it’s all about a bag in which acts as the maguffin in the narrative. We had a low angle shot of Armand’s face as he was staring into the camera. This could potentially give the audience a feeling of this person is a dominant scary character. We also had a long shot of the two characters showing some kind of binary opposition between them. However, at this moment in time we do not know who the good guy or bad guy is, which leaves the audience yet confused and engaged in the sequence, with them desperately wanting to find out. The sound also was parallel to the scenes as they suited the scenes shot in the video. We used non-diegetic sound. However during the fit few scenes we saw a clock so the audience could be tricked into thinking that it is diegetic as there is a clock in the room. We also used a sound bridge as we had a scene of a close up of Armond’s face, whilst this was being shown we has the clock ticking then we’ have a scene of the clock. The lyrics to the music we had sued also suited what Kyle was doing which was going somewhere. The lyrics were ‘I’m coming’. Every time a scene popped up with Kyle walking we’d hear ‘I’m coming being said’.

EBI:
What we could have done better in the video we had produced is that we realised that there were a few things we could have done better. For example the camera mans were a bit shaky. So next time we would have to get a camera man in which has steady hands, or we could use the tripod. We also had a few scenes in which were a bit out of focus. This would make the video footage look unprofessional and amateurish. This would need to be remembered for the next time we shoot videos so that we get all the scenes in focus. We also made a mistake where one of the camera men could is seen in the glass door filming the scene. This is important as it would not come out as a professionally made video in the end, the audience would notice. However, no one noticed during the video being played to the audience. We would also have to think about the setting as well as in the scenes we could see boxes and rubbish around which did not suit or fit the narrative. This would have created a distraction for the audience and would make them not focus on the protagonists and what’s going on in the video.

Narrative Task

Narrative Task

Firstly, we have the main character the protagonist called Robert he is an average guy, who goes to work average salary and is single. Everything is going well until one day his life turns upside down. Literally, he gets kidnapped in his own home and gets shipped to Australia. Why would this man be shipped to Australia is he not an average normal guy?  And so we are fooled to think so, Robert has a past in which we shall cover in future as we go deeper in to the narrative. This creates an enigma code to why he has been kidnapped and what history he possesses. We start off with equilibrium, and then we see it slowly turns into disequilibrium. As he has been kidnapped and is left in the middle of nowhere. He then finds himself on a journey to find out who has done this to him. This would turn in to a multi-stranded narrative as there are a few stories taking place at different times. We find out that the protagonist plays different Propp’s character types as we find him to be the hero, villain and princess. As he seeks answers roaming around where he has been left stranded he starts getting flashbacks of familiar places he may have seen before. He then comes across a stranded house and breaks in to it. Then this is where everything kicks in, he finds his past he has forgotten about…

Sky Fall 007 Lighting Analysis.

SkyFall 007 Lighting Analysis.

Here in this movie poster we see a man. In which we all know that this man is James Bond. In this poster we see that the lighting has a dark effect. This would mean that this would come under low-key lighting. The low-key lighting is a mixture of three point lighting affects that are used in movies to create a huge affect in the image. In this case only the key lights and that backlights are being used which are only two of the three point lighting. This would be called a chiaroscuro, which creates a mixture of darkness and shadows with in the image. By using the back lighting it creates a little silhouette in the image, this could potentially create an enigma for the audience that may look up on this image. This leaves them confused as to who might this man be and what purpose he as in this tunnel like scene. However, the backlighting has not created a full silhouette as we can still see a bit of what this character looks like.  By this it makes the character look even more mysterious than he already is as only half of his face has been lit up from above which is called the top lighting which is the key lighting. This could have been used to light up the characters face so that we can be more familiar with who we are looking at. It also could be used to maybe make the character more glamorous and attractive for the audience. This could potentially attract a female audience, as he is a handsome, smart looking young man. Furthermore, this does also apply to the male audience as well. However, they wont be attracted but they will idolise the actor and maybe might find themselves maybe looking up to the actor maybe wanting to be like this dashing young man.

Citizen Kane

Citizen Kane Opening
The first scene we look at is a close of a sign, a sign in which says ‘no trespassing’; we see this sign on a fence. However, we cannot see what is behind the fence as it is blurred out. This would create an enigma for the audience watching as they would want to know what is behind the fence and would leave them eager to wanting to know what lies behind the fence. We then see that the genre of this film could possibly be a thriller which has been given out through the use of enigma codes. We then fade into another scene where we see the environment where there is a castle like building where something may take place. The environment we see it as to be a very spooky, eerie place surrounded by fog.  This builds up tension as we don’t know what this place is and for more obvious reasons it looks scary.

Along with that spooky music that is also being played which we can easily tell that its parallel music which matches the scenery. This could connote that something bad or maybe upsetting is going to take place. We also notice that all the scenes that have been shown the transaction of the scenes have all been fades. Which could get the audience scared, as they don’t know what could pop put next. Suddenly as we fade into a window the music starts building up heavier, the lights go off. This could potentially foreshadow someone’s lights being turned out, which significantly means that someone might die. We then find our selves looking up on an extreme close ups which shows the director wanted us to pay attention to what will happen, what happens is the man says a word in which he says faintly. From this we can connote that he is a very weak man physically from the way he speaks.

We then are in a medium shot of a house in where it is snowing outside. However here our eyes deceive as the camera zooms out from the house we begin to realise its just a snowball in someone’s hands. However from this we can tell that it is winder time from what conventions were displayed from the snow globe like the snow. Suddenly we see that the old man let goes of the snow globe, we then see the globe rolling away and smashes on to the ground into pieces. Then after we see a maid enters the room in which we understand that this man was a very important person in which was powerful and maybe well known. We see the maid then covers the old man with a white sheet. This white sheet connotes to us that the man has in fact died. We can now confirm that the reason to why at the begging the director has used the fades is because he’s trying to show that this man here is fading away. Finally in the end of the begging of the scene we have the man covered and the scene fades out.

Advert Analysis

50 Cent RBK Advert:

Firstly I would like to talk about why Reebok have used 50 cent to advertise on their advert. This is because Reebok is trying to imply that it is a strong brand. People know of 50 cent for being a very strong human being who has had a past of when he had been shot 9 times, and yet he is still alive to this day as we speak.  We see 50 cents eyes staring directly into the camera lenses. This could mean that Reebok is trying to say to the audience that this advert applies to you to whoever might be looking at it. We also see a picture of 50 cents finger prints on a card, maybe taken from the police department.  We see that he must have been involved in some sort of crime in the past. Crime in which I mean battles maybe between two gangs. We see that battles are involved as the font used for the quote ‘I am what I am’ is written out in olden medieval times. We see the colours that have been used are black and white, showing maybe that he is talking about his past. We also can see that since the colours that have been used are black and white and that he is wearing a camouflaged hat we get a sense of him trying to hide.  What I have just written about I the dominant reading of this is that this is aimed at people who like sport clothing and whop are into their hip hop R&B music. It’s aimed mostly at teenagers who look up to these huge rap stars. The negotiated reading of this is that people will buy the Reebok products because of 50 cents criminal past and background. The oppositional reading could be that Reebok is a made from criminals and only people from violent backgrounds buy this specific brand of products.

Tiger Woods – Nike Advert:

Here we have tiger woods. He is in a Nike advert in which we also see that he is wearing Nike clothing. As we can see here the golf player is shown kneeling down looking down at something, we could probably guess it’s a golf ball. We see here that his facial expression shows that he is very concentrated on something. We see that he is also a bit worried looking at his face. The typography says ‘winning takes care of everything.’  This motivates us in believing that winning is everything, it shows us that by winning it’ll satisfy you in every way but before that you have to play hard like Mr Woods here. This would also influence us in maybe taking up the game golf. As we can see he is kneeling showing that he loves this game. When we see people kneeling we think about how in the olden days people used to kneel down their kings and queens out of respect and love. However we see tiger not kneeling to royalty but to a game, a game that he truly loves playing. We see that tiger is wearing red and in some of the words we see that ‘world #1’ and ‘victory’ has been written showing us that in this game he is the number one and he is the victorious one. This could also influence us in yet buying Nike wear again as maybe the people who are looking up on this advert might one day want to be world’s number one and the victorious one at their own game like tiger woods one day. The dominant reading for this is to buy Nike's gear if you want to win and succeed, if that what you want then Nike's the product for you. The negotiated reading for this is people would buy this product of who is on the advert a huge star, Tiger Woods. The oppositional reading for this would be that people who play golf can only buy these products and for those who don’t it’s not for them.

Ninja Trailer Analysis

Ninja

The film I shall be analysing is ‘ninja’. This movie was released a few years ago and was a hit.

During the trailer that I have watched I noticed that the cinematography of the trailer contained a large number of close up shots. Which could signify that since the movie title is ninja everything is going to be happening fast so viewers must keep a close eye at what is happening during the film. This gives us a chance to really not miss out on a lot that’s happening which helps viewers to understand the movie better and not leaving them uninterested and confused. This lets the viewers also see things in detail as they are close up shots. The camera movement is almost never moving as it’s in a nice and steady position, just like a ninja would be quick and steady.

in the trailer the length of the shots were very short, lasting just under two seconds each. However, in some cases where something interesting is taking place the shots lasted longer, this is because by having the shots length longer it gives a chance for the viewers to really interpret and understand what is happening at that moment in time. As the audiences understanding the crutual parts of the film is important as it will interest them to go and watch it in cinemas. During the trailer we could see that the camera movement was indeed very fast. This suits the movie as we know ninjas are seen to be as really fast moving martial arts experts. This also builds up tension whilst viewers are watching the movie leaving them wanting more of the thrilling shots that have been shown during the course of the trailer.

at the start of the trailer we hear that the type of music that is being played originates from china. It was an ancient chines music being played which meant using the traditional Chinese instruments. Showing the audience that maybe these skills dated from thousands of years ago as the narrator was telling a little story of past history. When the narrator says the words ‘and now’ then suddenly the whole of the music changes in to modern life classical music showing a jump into the future. The sound effects that were being used were of swords. Swords slicing through warriors and the thuds of their bodies as they drop down to the ground.  Also the dialogue all you hear between the characters is shouting and questions being asked which makes the movie a kind of mystery. We also see that no one really talks much which relates to the movie title as we know ninjas are silent. The soundtracks that have been used would make the audience want to watch the movie in cinemas as the rock music near the end build up tension so leading to the audience enjoying what they’ve seen in the trailer.

In the trailer we can see that the characters during the day they dress casually showing to us that they are normal people. But by night they all suddenly wear dark coloured ninja costumes. This could show us that these people could be living two lives. By day a normal person, however by night a mysterious animal. The lighting in the trailer I a bit dull and mostly dark. The props that have been used are old Chinese swords that are being used by the ninjas in the trailer. Showing they are dangerous. Firstly the scenes were set in ancient china in the far past sowing the origin of martial arts and ninjas, then we skip jump into the future where we see the main characters in the film. This would interest the audience to watch this movie as its packed full of history and comparisons of what life was like back then from now.

The films genre is all action and martial arts. We can tell this by what conventions have been used for example the weapons, fighting people getting murdered. Bloodshed included from these battles between the characters.

My Media Consumption..

My Media Consumption

Newspapers/magazines
Newspapers and magazines I do not read at all as I am not interested in them and I’ve really never read one in my life, apart from the times I find one on a bus or train, even then I just skim through it.

Television
I do watch a lot of television. During a weekly basis I probably watch about 30 hours of it. I watch an hour when I wake up from my sleep. What I watch in the mornings is comedy, as I enjoy a laugh and it sure does wake me up in the mornings. Sometimes I watch cartoons as it’s been a habit ever since I was a young boy. Then I watch another 5-7 hours of television after I come home from school. What I watch during this time are soap operas as I love how they always leave it on a cliff hanger on every episode. This I love as I am eager to find out what will happen in the next episode. However most up my time is taken up by watching movies. Comedy and action movies in particular. But then as soon as the clock starts hitting midnight I turn over to horror movie instead as I love how it scares me.

Radio
I don’t listen to a lot of radio. But I mostly listen to the radio whilst I’m in the car and bored and have nothing to listen to. I usually tune in to capital fm or either kiss100. As these are the more well known stations that play out the latest and the best songs.

Cinema
This last month I’ve seen the movie insidious 2. It was scary! I had watched it the day it came out as I was really set on watching it after I had watched the first one which was great. I’ve also seen other movies on movie channels, I’ve seen a lot actually. I’ve seen so many I can’t even begin where to start first. I’ve seen all the best movies like titanic which was a great movie, had me crying towards the end. I like watching these movies by myself so I don’t get distracted by others when watching, I love paying attention to detail in movies whether it’s your confused and trying to find out who could be the criminal mastermind behind the committed crimes or what not.

Internet
I access the internet nearly everyday weather its at home, college or in public places. I mainly use the internet for entertainment purposes like YouTube for example. I watch music videos to listen in on to music. I do intend to buy products from the internet too. I also socialize sometimes on the internet but mostly on my mobile phone device as these days mobiles phones are not just mobile phones they’re like tablets.

As a media student now I think I should be reading more instead of watching. I should maybe pick up a magazine once in a while and read a magazine just to try it out, I may indeed find myself liking it. Furthermore I should be listening to radio as I don’t listen to it much. By me doing all this it will help me through my A level in media these things are to do with the media and it is what influences people. This would be a good way to observe and analyse how people are being influenced by these types of media.

I am legend- Poster analysis

I am legend

The film poster gives quite a lot away. From what I can see from the poster is that there is a man and a dog. From what the tag line says ‘the last man on earth. Is not alone.’ I can infer that there is only the only man on earth and that he has something frightening to face from what he has in his hand. Which is an automatic weapon, which shows us that he is armed and dangerous. We can also see that during this he could maybe have to face the dangers alone. We also see that he is glowing. The sun gives him a glow makes him stand out and it could try informing us that he is the hope, he is the hero the main character the person who’s been left alone on the lonely planet. However he isn't exactly alone, he has with him so called ‘mans best friend’ which is we refer as to the dog. A man's best friend who is there when needed the most and when in trouble is there to help out in any way possible. This dog has been put there to show that the main character has some kind of support.

This film poster shows loads of different signs of different genres. But mostly it gives away the genre of adventure as we see this is set in New York City, as we all know it is a very big city. Loads of things to do, we can also see that the sun is setting and he is walking away from it possibly walking towards the darkness possible entering the genre of horror. So far we have a mixture of the possible categories of the genres adventure, action and horror. We can directly see that this film is a definite hybrid. We can tell that the genres are present from what kind of iconography is present in the poster. For example the gun in the characters hand is an automatic weapon, this shows us that some action is going to take place for example a fight/a war against what ever is out there. Also by what the characters body expression projects shows us he’s not scared and is ready for anything. Furthermore we even see that the dog’s body language that shows us that he looks like he’s looking around for danger as it is expected. Horror we could see this is present from the colours that have been used in the background. We see that the background is all dark and gloomy giving it a spooky effect. The colours that are used also shows that the sun is setting signifying that this is the end of something…that something we don’t know what it is this creates an enigma for the audience.

The film I think would be aimed at teenagers/early 20s as primary audience and secondary audience would be aimed at people, which are aged from 25 years of age. This is because this film would not be suitable for young children as it contains a lot of action and horror therefore this could scare or maybe in fact influence the younger generation to do things in which they shouldn't. we see that the name Will Smith is in the largest font in the whole of the poster. This tries to promote the film through the big world known actor will smith himself. As it informs people that he is the main character so by this it will attract a whole other group of target audience, Will Smiths fans. The movie is also based on a novel in which was written by Richard Matheson in 1954. So this attracts yet another target audience for book lovers and comic geeks as it had been made into also a comic.

why As media? by Armond

I have chosen media as I have done this subject for one of my GCSE options. During the course of the year at first I found myself liking the subject then near the end I ended up loving it.  I like the subject as it gives you a chance to explore the world of media and how everything works. How the people get influenced by what they see, hear and read. I also love the practical side to media in which involves getting into a group and going out videoing short movies. This gives us a chance to experience what sort of process the professionals go through. This subject also helps me in my writing, it would definitely improve my writing skills and my imagination.
